One home. A considered direction.
Separate essential changes from optional upgrades. The rooms included, existing conditions and whether you plan to stay in the home shape the approach. A written scope should identify inclusions, exclusions and the decisions needed before work starts.
Elements of the renovation
- Room-by-room renovation scopes
- Coordinated flooring and trim palettes
- Phasing and household access planning
Plumbing, electrical, HVAC and structural changes are project-dependent and reviewed through qualified trades or professionals where required.
A clear scope starts with the right questions.
Think across rooms before selecting finishes
Whole-home renovation brings several interior decisions into one plan. Identify the rooms that need practical change and those that mainly need a finish refresh. A consistent approach to flooring, doors, trim and colour can connect spaces without making them identical. For Toronto and GTA homes, the existing layout and household routines provide a better starting point than a collection of unrelated images.
Plan access and sequencing
Discuss whether the home will be occupied, which rooms must remain usable and how materials can reach the work areas. Shared finishes and work at room boundaries may influence phasing. In a condominium, building rules, elevator arrangements and renovation permissions should be checked before a schedule is agreed. No universal timeline fits every home or combination of rooms.
Keep decisions visible
A written room-by-room scope helps separate essential work, optional upgrades and items needing further review. Record chosen materials and unresolved decisions early. Changes to services or structure are project-dependent and require qualified input where applicable. An estimate should describe inclusions and exclusions clearly, rather than relying on a broad label such as a complete renovation.

Your questions, considered.
Can we renovate in phases?
Phasing can be discussed around room access, shared finishes and trade sequencing.
What belongs in the estimate?
Rooms, work items, allowances and exclusions should be defined. Project-dependent mechanical or structural work requires separate assessment.
How does a design direction become a defined renovation?
The concept is a starting point. Room dimensions, materials, existing conditions and any required approvals need to be reviewed before a written scope, estimate or schedule can be proposed.
